Call For Entries
The Filoli Botanical Art Exhibit has long been an essential part of the Botanical Art Program’s mission to interpret and preserve this historically significant art form. Artists are invited to enter original artwork in any two-dimensional medium that reflects the rich tradition of botanical art and adheres to high standards of botanical accuracy and skilled use of media.

Elibibility: Open to all
Subject: Botanical specimens; artwork not previously exhibited at Filoli
Media: Any two-dimensional medium
Size limitations: Minimum frame size: 8” x 10”; Maximum frame size: 34” x 48”
Submissions: Entries may include up to three digital images on CD, .jpg format, 360 dpi, 8” high labeled with artist’s name and name of the artwork(s). Send CD and completed entry form with a check for $30 (for 1-3 images), to Filoli, Attn: Education Office, 86 Cañada Road, Woodside, CA 94062. Entry forms are available online at www.filoli.org or by phone to 650.364.8300 x298. It is crucial that your images be of the highest quality as they may be used for the exhibition postcard, the Filoli website and other promotional materials. CD will not be returned. Entry fees are non-refundable.
Submission deadling: April 23, 2010
Presentation: Selected entries must be framed and ready to hang - no sawtooths or projecting screw eyes; Plexiglas required on all artwork; light or neutral mat colors; simple gold or wood frames. Title must include Latin name but it need not be on the front of the artwork. Accepted entries that do not conform to the above presentation guidelines may be refused at the time of hanging.
Labeling: Label the back of your artwork with your name, address, phone number, email address, title of artwork, sales status and price.
Acceptance: All artwork will be juried by digital image. Criteria for acceptance will include botanical accuracy as well as artistic presentation and technical use of medium. Acceptance / decline notices will be mailed to entrants by May 7, 2009. It is the artist’s responsibility to insure the artwork is available. If the accepted artwork is withdrawn, the artists will not be considered for the following year’s exhibit.
Shipping guidelines: Accepted artists will receive detailed instructions for shipping and hand delivery of artwork. The artist is responsible for all shipping and insurance costs. Artwork must be received by June June 3 via carrier or June 7 on-site.
